One of the things that I did not realize when we opened the Corner Kitchen was that there is a huge desire for private dining spaces in our fair city. Space for private events is at a premium in Asheville. I should clarify. Space for private events, in desirable locations, is at a premium in Asheville. If we had a private room that held 50 guests at the Corner Kitchen, we could probably book it twice a month. As it is, we do have private event space if your party is of the right size and if you like the ambiance of a 125 year-old house.
Over the years we have had weddings, birthdays, MANY bridal parties and family reunions in our rooms here. I would never classify us as a wedding venue, but for certain things our little home is perfect. We have a room that holds 12-14 guests (and once was the private space for President and First Lady Obama and some of their friends). We have another that holds 20 and can be made very private. Our glassed-in Side Porch can hold up to 40 guests and has a great view of Historic Biltmore Village, especially in the fall.
You can even book the whole house, and we have done this a couple of dozen times over the years.
There is nothing quite as cozy as having a dinner with 11 of your best friends in the Sisal Room with a fire in the fireplace in January. It’s like stepping back in time. Sometimes the weather cooperates and we even have snow falling outside.
Food, for our chefs, is primary. Service is always key. But at the Corner Kitchen, you also get the added bonus of being in a home designed by Richard Sharp Smith, in the center of the remaining dozen or so 1895 homes built for George Vanderbilt’s staff. You are, literally, sitting in the middle of a history.
We would love to talk with you about using the house for your private event. You can call 828-274-2439.
