Humans of Corner Kitchen : Scott Pittman

Scott has been a happy and familiar face around Corner Kitchen and Chestnut. He has worked for both of our restaurants over the years and has recently started pursuing his passions with brewing!

Are you from Asheville?

I’m originally from a small town called Turtletown, Tennessee with a population of under 1000. I moved here in 2015, because after some moving around I wanted to be back in the mountains.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

My big hobby is brewing! I’m a brewing, fermentation, and distillation student at AB tech. I also home-brew when time allows. I was always a fan of craft beer, but moving here really opened my eyes to how creative you can be with the format.

Where in town would you recommend people visit?

For breweries, definitely Burial, Hillman, Zillicoah, and The Cellarist. Food wise, other than Corner Kitchen and Chestnut, I love Sunny Point Cafe for brunch and Plant for a dinner with friends!

If you could travel to any place in the world for a food experience, where would you go and what would you want to try?

I’d love to travel South America and just try things. See the way different chefs interpret different dishes and the flavor profiles each country or region brings to the table.

Corner Kitchen is proud to be part of Asheville's vibrant food scene and...don't forget that parking is free in the village (and very abundant during dinner service)!
