Humans of Corner Kitchen is a continuing blog piece we run each month about a staff member in our restaurant.
My name is Rachel Morgan and I am the general manager.
How long have you worked for Corner Kitchen?
Coming up on 5 years in the Spring.
What’s the best meal you’ve had at Corner Kitchen?
Coriander Seared Scallops over Hominy & Local Sweet Corn Sautee, Grilled Green Onions and Chili Puree. Scallops are always on the top of my list but this set was exceptional.
What kitchen tool could you not live without?
I’d say a good knife but my family would say my spatula for flippin “Mommycakes” on weekend mornings.
If you could only have one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Sushi, Sushi, Sushi.
What’s the worst meal you’ve ever had?
No single meal stands out but the food snob in me dies a little every time we take a road trip and the best thing to be found for miles is Subway :(.
What’s your favorite food movie? (example, Julie and Julia)
Jiro Dreams of Sushi- A great example of simplicity of flavors, the ritual and tradition of dining, and chef -to-guest connection.
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?
Well…the look on my daughter’s face when she saw my husband dressed in a full chicken suit ready to walk her to the bus stop on the first day of school comes to mind. (He didn’t really do it).
What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why did you choose to watch it?
I’ve been re-watching Hell on Wheels because it’s fantastic.
How do you spend your time outside of work?
I am addicted to home renovation and landscaping projects. You can find me teaching my girls to plant seeds or taking apart the dryer for a lost sock.
