Humans of Corner Kitchen: Jon Love

It’s rare that you’ll see Jon running around Corner Kitchen without a smile on his face, cracking jokes even in the middle of a dinner rush. Even through these few questions, that spirit is plain to see.

How long have you worked for Corner Kitchen, and what’s your current position?

I have worked for Corner Kitchen since early November of 2020, and am now a server, though I started off hosting to get my foot in the door!

Are you an Asheville local, or alternatively what brought you here?

Before I moved to Asheville, I lived in Durham, NC, and came up here to get sober, find some peace and become my own person. Have had success ever since!

What is your favorite dish you’ve had at the restaurant?

It hasn’t been on the menu for a while, but when the Saltimbocca was on the menu it was hard for me not to eat it about 3 times a week.

What life lessons has working in the service industry taught you?

Maybe not much of a lesson, but this industry solidifies the fact that humans are so beautifully diverse, I have learned to always keep an open mind about others’ likes/preferences. Everyone is different!

If you could only pick two or three places for foodies to try in Asheville, what would you suggest?

A few of my favorite restaurants are Moe’s BBQ, Copper Crown, and Rosetta’s Kitchen.

What is your biggest passion(s) outside the restaurant?

My biggest passion is live music! Ever since the pandemic has eased up a little, I try to catch at least one show a month. Dancing is the best medicine!
