Humans of Corner Kitchen is a continuing blog piece we run each month about a staff member in our restaurant. 

My name is Abby and I’m a host at Corner Kitchen.

How long have you worked for Corner Kitchen?
I started in September.

What’s the best meal you’ve had at Corner Kitchen?
I’ve been having the spring dandelion salad every shift this past week. I also love the Eggplant Parmesan sandwich.

What kitchen tool could you not live without?
A blender.

If you could only have one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I know it’s a cliche but I’m going to have to say pizza.

What’s the worst meal you’ve ever had?
Being broke in college I made some pretty awful concoctions with whatever was in the fridge….a few of those are coming to mind but I’m too embarrassed to talk about what was in them, haha…

What’s your favorite food movie?
I’m not sure if this is supposed to be asking for my favorite food, favorite movie, or favorite movie about food…so I’m just going to pick one. My favorite movie about food is not really a movie but it’s an episode of Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown I watched recently where he visits Norway and there’s a restaurant that works with almost exclusively locally grown and locally foraged foods including moss, flowers, mushrooms, and weeds that the chef forages himself. Pretty beautiful to watch.

What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why did you choose to watch it?
I never watched Mad Men when everyone else was watching it so I’ve been slowly working my way through that recently. The costumes and sets are really amazing.
